This month's Mafia Mix is brought to you by Miami DJ chick Carli Nicholas! Get to know this babe as she stars in Mafia Mix Vol.10!

How did you get into DJing?

My mother is an incredibly talented singer, songwriter and musician so I grew up totally surrounded by the loving embrace of music. It’s always been a huge part of who I am so getting into DJing was just sort of a natural evolution.

What is your favorite style/genre of music to play? Who are your favorite artists right now?

I’m not one to pigeon-hole my sound or style. If it feels good to your soul, I’m down with it. I’m a huge fan of old school R&B/hip-hop like Destiny’s Child, D’Angelo  & Q-Tip and have a ton of respect for these up & coming producers who are incorporating those soulful influences into their dance tracks – Bondax, French Kiwi Juice & Kaytranada.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I’d describe my fashion style at the moment as very California. Laid back, refined tomboy, 90s. I’m pretty versatile; if it works for me I’ll wear it. I don’t like super tight, girly shit. I’m more into ripped denim, booties & the vintage band tees that I steal from my dad.

Who’s your style icon?

I don’t necessarily have a certain person that I’d consider my style icon, but do follow a few brands/designers closely like Stone Cold Fox, One Teaspoon, Mate the Label… Nasty Gal also curates some fun & fearless pieces that I dig. If I had to choose a style icon I’d probably go with Erin Wasson because she’s my ultimate crush.

What is your current relationship status?

I’m in a pretty serious relationship with my wolfdog Gwen. Hence my alias, the wolf mother. She gets more chicks than I do.

What is the dating scene like in Miami?

Honestly, it’s slim pickins when it comes to suitable mates in Miami. I have a great group of gay friends and we throw women’s parties under the name “Out Miami” in partnership with Pandora Events, so we’re really trying to ramp up the scene and give the ladies a reason to come together and have a good time. But currently I’m not really dating…I don’t have time for basic bitches.

What is your goal as a DJ and individual?

DJing is a wonderfully fulfilling creative outlet that has become, coincidentally, increasingly more rewarding for me.  My goals are to just keep growing in every aspect: my career, my music, my soul, the whole nine. It would be awesome to be revered as a tastemaker here in Miami (and soon…the universe) for funky, fresh music and parties too. I’m going to make that a goal of mine as well J

If you could describe yourself in 3 words?

I’m cheating and using 4 words: “Go. With. The. Flow.”
